Pemayangtse Monastery

The Monastery of Pemayangtse is located near the town of Pelling, one of Sikkim’s earliest and most famous monasteries.

Constructed in 1705, the monastery belongs to the Nyingmapa branch of Mahayana Buddhism and was established by Gyalwa Lhatsum Chempo, one of the three lamas who conducted the First Chogyal (King) Phuntsog Namgyal Consecration Celebration at Yuksam in 1642.

Pelling Sky Walk
